So here is what came in the mail today. This really stinky box with one full Angora goat fleece. Hopefully by the time I am done with it, I will have this really beautiful hair for many OOAK dolls of many colors.
Look at how dirty and gross this is. I can't wait to see the potential in this stuff. Right now it is just really dirty, smelly, and really waxy in texture. A few washes and hopefully we will be closer to something not so smelly and less dirty.
This is after 3 washes. It looks great doesn't it. What a change in all ways. It doesn't smell any more. It still has some hay and still needs to be washed but I need to brush it out before I wash it again. This will remove all the leftover vegetation and allow me to separate into lengths. Most of the directions say to wash about 3 times but I still see that there needs to be more washing. There is still some vegetation and some color variations from the dirt. There is one set of directions that tells you to wash 10 times to get a really good clean. Three times took about an hour. Maybe if I brush it out and separate it into smaller sections they will wash out the variations better. If not, I can dye it black, brown, auburn, or chocolate blonde. What beautiful colors for hair. Can't wait to see what colors I can create. Hopefully beautiful natural hair colors.
These two pictures are of them after they are towel dried. What a beautiful white blonde. I almost think of a newborn with this color. So delicate. Still have a long way to go but well on my way to a beautiful bunch of hair.
Tomorrow will be the brushout, more washing and possibly dying my first batch. Can't wait. I will need to make a trip to Wal-Mart for more dawn soap so I can clean more hair. So excited to have one bunch finished. Maybe tomorrow.
Happy Sculpting Everyone.
